WHAT IS THE JAMESTOWN PRIDE SOCIETY?

We welcome you to become a member of the Jamestown Pride Society, where everyone is welcome and has a voice! Our goal is to generate inclusion throughout the community for every individual! Members are able to contribute their ideas to the group and assist with achieving our goals together as one voice!  Members have the opportunity to help organize and plan events, attend our social gatherings and THERE IS NO MEMBERSHIP COST!  Our members share a common vision of social and legal equality.  

 

WHAT DOES THE JAMESTOWN PRIDE SOCIETY DO?

Through our events, we have a goal of educating each other and the community while breaking down the walls of seperation that exist in our society, especially in our local community. Through our positive endeavors, we partner with businesses and non-profit organizations as well as the public to educate, advocate and present resources to the community. Through these activities, there will be a reduction of isolation or separation that may exist by creating an inclusion atmosphere for all in a positive and non-judgmental environment.

 

WHY WAS THE JAMESTOWN PRIDE SOCIETY CREATED?

You may wonder why this type of organization is necessary in Jamestown, NY.  The answer is simple.  In the past, some may have had the right ideas, but haven't had the ability to make things happen.  This is why no progress had been made in Jamestown until now.  The Jamestown Pride Society has a few core officers, President, Vice President and Secretary but it is the ideas and suggestions, as well as the involvement and hard work of the members that make things happen!  In our community in the past, educating on sexual orientation or gender topics have been carried out in unsuccesful ways, and the negative approach from these individuals pushed support away.  Seeing this happen in our own community led to a handful of individuals speaking up about this negativity and creating the Jamestown Pride Society to actually begin to make things happen in Jamestown, NY.  Since our creation, we have over 40 businesses and organizations on board with our goals, that believe in our vision.  Only 6 months after the creation of the Jamestown Pride Society, officers and members were able to change the direction of the negative approach in Jamestown, NY and head in a direction of positivity by hosting the first ever Pride Conference of Western New York and the Greater Southern Tier.  THis event turned out to be the highest attended LGBT event ever in Jamestown, NY.  

 

WHAT WILL THE FUTURE BE FOR THE JAMESTOWN PRIDE SOCIETY?

IT IS TRUE, THAT POSITIVITY OUTSHINES THE NEGATIVE ASPECTS WITHIN OUR SOCIETY, AND HERE IN OUR COMMUNITY.  THE JAMESTOWN PRIDE SOCIETY HAS PROVEN THIS FACT.  WE WILL CONTINUE TO ORGANIZE MAJOR EVENTS EVEN LARGER THAN THE PRIDE CONFERENCE, BOTH IN JAMESTOWN, NY AND WHEREVER WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO SO.  BE PART OF MAKING THIS NECESSARY CHANGE!  JOIN THE JAMESTOWN PRIDE SOCIETY AD CONTRIBUTE TO THE BATTLE FOR FULL EQUALITY
